Thinking about relocating to Brockton from New York
I've been here for 11 years and Homes are going for about $405,500 on average. Rent is about $1,545/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I work in consulting here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is improving. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for retirement and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The pet-friendliness is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 5 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
