Hey everyone, I'm a college student here and It's a a mid-size city city with about 116K people. The median home value here is around $229,300, which is actually reasonable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Worth the trade-offs? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (South) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community vibe is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Eastside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
