Random thought, I'm a 46-year-old chef and Rent is about $1,789/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I'm a electrician and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is average and there's always something going on.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much developing but now it's surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 11 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
