Brookhaven job market vs Pittsburgh

Curious what people think. Crime rate is something to consider -Brookhaven sits at 387.3 per 100K. Household incomes average around $117,448 in Brookhaven. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Should I be concerned? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Charlotte it's average.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much manageable but now it's improving.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The school system is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
