As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much reasonable but now it's solid.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much wild but now it's tough.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I work in tech here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is better than expected. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The public transit is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great craft beer places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely solid and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (North) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
