Is Brookhaven good for remote workers?

Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Brookhaven sits at 22.0 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Should I be concerned?

Bought a house here in 2021 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 13 years. Moved from Miami for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Property taxes are high. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much affordable but now it's excellent.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
