Curious what people think. My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $265,500 on average. With a population of 8,288, Brookhaven is a small town. Rent is about $1,557/month for a decent place. Median household income is $96,393, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 14 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Riverside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- The healthcare scene is improving
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
