With a population of 6,465, Brookhaven is a small town. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..
