Best hidden gems in Brookings

Curious what people think. With a population of 6,733, Brookings is a small town. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. Appreciate any input. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The housing market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
