Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and The median home value here is around $1,233,100, which is pretty steep. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thoughts? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 12 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I'm a contractor and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Highland for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The school system scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Miami about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
