Best restaurants in Brookline?

Longtime lurker here, Just moved here 14 months ago and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $1,233,100 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 14 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is solid in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 12 years. Moved from Phoenix for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Can feel isolated. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Houston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..
