Moving to Brookline -what should I know?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Homes are going for about $1,233,100 on average. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Brookline sits at 96.7 per 100K. Household incomes average around $140,631 in Brookline. It's a a smaller city city with about 62,822 people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience? The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
