You can expect to pay around $1,331 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Brooklyn Park sits at 368.2 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Does this match your experience? The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much developing but now it's average.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 1 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The healthcare is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..
