Living in Brookshire -the reality

First post here. I'm a college student here and With a population of 5,330, Brookshire is a small town. Poverty rate is 13.1%, which is around average. Median household income is $62,987, which feels about average for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in legal. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Uptown for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- The safety scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much competitive but now it's average.
