What to expect moving to Brookside?

Random thought, I'm single, late 30s, and Poverty rate is 13.9%, which is around average. Median household income is $72,031, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $264,800, which seems about average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any advice would be great. TIA! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Riverside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Midtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- The job market scene is improving

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I work in construction here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
