Hey, I work in finance and Homes are going for about $452,300 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Highland) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The school system scene is tough
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Nashville about 8 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Highland) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
