Job hunting in Brownsburg -tips?
Longtime lurker here, The unemployment rate is 1.1%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Charlotte about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 4 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The housing market scene is improving
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
