Is Brunswick walkable?

Longtime lurker here, My family moved here when I was a kid. You can expect to pay around $876 for rent here. Poverty rate is 29.1%, which is higher than I expected. Crime rate is something to consider -Brunswick sits at 1,414.0 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 4.5%, which is about average. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 13 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is surprisingly good.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been here 10 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Midtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
