The good and bad of living in Brunswick

Curious what people think. We have two kids and Rent is about $1,300/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Any help is appreciated. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been here 8 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The school system is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been here 4 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 7 years. Moved from New York for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Homeless population growing downtown. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
