Pros and cons of Bryan after 7 years

OK so I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $56,861 in Bryan. Homes are going for about $210,600 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Appreciate any input.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to San Diego it's surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Highland) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
