Working in Bryan -salaries realistic?

Hey folks, The median home value here is around $210,600, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $210,600 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cultural scene is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 24, moved here 2 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Springfield and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The job market scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a nurse and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Moved here from LA about 6 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to walkability but No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in The Heights area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much competitive but now it's hit or miss.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to LA it's solid.
