Living in Bryson City -the reality

Curious what people think. Homes are going for about $246,700 on average. The median home value here is around $246,700, which is actually reasonable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from LA about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.
