Honest thoughts on life in Buckeye

Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider -Buckeye sits at 137.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $384,100, which seems about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely better than expected and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
