Waylon Thompson housing

Is it worth buying in Buckhannon?

Alright, I'm originally from St. Louis and Median household income is $48,720, which feels on the lower side for the area. Homes are going for about $152,000 on average. You can expect to pay around $800 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Let me know your thoughts. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
