So, Born and raised here. It's a a small town city with about 15,487 people. Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Worth the trade-offs? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Sunset) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much growing but now it's underrated.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The job market scene is average
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The safety scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
