Hey everyone, Just moved here 10 months ago and It's a a smaller city city with about 83,052 people. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 5.8%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Moved here from Minneapolis about 1 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to public transit but No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a real estate agent, 50, moved here 8 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cost of living situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much pricey but now it's improving.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Phoenix about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is average.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
