First post here. It's a a mid-size city city with about 276K people. Household incomes average around $48,050 in Buffalo. Rent is about $989/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in East for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The traffic scene is tough
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for work and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The nightlife is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
