Best kept secrets of Bull Run CDP (Fairfax County), VA
Been meaning to ask this. Household incomes average around $238,500 in Bull Run CDP (Fairfax County). The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the West side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I've lived in Highland for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The housing market scene is improving
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..
