The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Does this match your experience? The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Raleigh it's surprisingly good.

I've lived in Springfield for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The pet-friendliness scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in legal. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Definitely worth checking out..
