Top 5 things I love about Burley

Longtime lurker here, I've been here for 16 years and With a population of 11,721, Burley is a small town. You can expect to pay around $920 for rent here. Homes are going for about $213,700 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from San Francisco about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Tampa about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..
