Planning a move to Burlington -neighborhoods?

Median household income is $54,941, which feels on the lower side for the area. Rent is about $1,030/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $188,700 on average. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Phoenix it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Minneapolis about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
