What Burlington does better than anywhere else

Longtime lurker here, Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $400,200 on average. The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 7.6%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Burlington sits at 405.1 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Growing food scene
- Low taxes

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Sprawl everywhere
- Far from major airports
Any advice would be great. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Came here for weather and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The public transit is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
