Is Burlington worth it salary-wise?

Anyone else feel this way? Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $268,300, which seems about average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 37, moved here 11 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Old Town and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The housing market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for retirees. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The nightlife scene is decent

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 6 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
