Homes are going for about $268,300 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Worth the trade-offs? I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I work in legal here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is improving. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely improving and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The cultural scene is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
