Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $335,100 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
