The good and bad of living in Burnsville

Hey, Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $83,953, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Does this match your experience?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Houston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
