Housing in Burr Ridge compared to Raleigh

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and The median home value here is around $694,800, which is pretty steep. With a population of 11,119, Burr Ridge is a small town. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Should I be concerned?

I've lived in Greenfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for weather and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The walkability is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
