Top 5 things I love about Burton

Been meaning to ask this. Born and raised here. With a population of 29,529, Burton is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,006 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Tampa about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 55, moved here 14 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Midtown and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The nightlife situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for young professionals. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Tampa it's excellent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..
