Living in Burtonsville -the reality

Longtime lurker here, I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $481,800, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $481,800 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Growing food scene
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Easy commute

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Cold winters
- Not very walkable
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Am I overthinking this? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to LA it's improving.

I've lived in Midtown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cost of living scene is average

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
