Best and worst neighborhoods in Butler

OK so I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $815/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $112,500 on average. It's a a small town city with about 13,306 people. The unemployment rate is 5.3%, which is about average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Does this match your experience? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much competitive but now it's challenging.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is tough in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 15 years. Moved from Portland for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Property taxes are high. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
