Hey, It's a a small town city with about 1,451 people. Rent is about $1,295/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $385,400 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thanks! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is decent in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a project manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.
