Job hunting in Byron -tips?

Anyone else feel this way? With a population of 5,839, Byron is a small town. Rent is about $846/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $846 for rent here. Household incomes average around $86,265 in Byron. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I wrong here? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 10 years. Moved from Raleigh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Dating scene is rough. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been in Eastside for 3 years. Moved from New York for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Schools (if relevant):**

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Dating scene is rough. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
