Best areas to explore in Cabot?

Hey everyone, I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Cabot sits at 372.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 7.7%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $72,656 in Cabot. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Should I be concerned? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 5 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely improving and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 54, moved here 12 years ago from LA. I've lived in Westside and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The weather situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Thai places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Sunset for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into running, this place is hit or miss.
