Life in Cabot as a young professional

Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $197,000 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Cabot sits at 372.1 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $974 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $72,656 in Cabot. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Low crime in most areas
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited nightlife
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
Is this normal for Cabot? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 12 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 15 years. Moved from Chicago for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is solid - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Dating scene is rough. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
