Unpopular opinion about Cabot

Longtime lurker here, You can expect to pay around $974 for rent here. Household incomes average around $72,656 in Cabot. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 7.7%, which is pretty low. With a population of 26,733, Cabot is a smaller city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Friendly people
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (North) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
