Moving to Caguas zona urbana with kids -good idea?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and With a population of 72,862, Caguas zona urbana is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Caguas zona urbana sits at 2,771.8 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 72,862 people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 4 years. Moved from Raleigh for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Dating scene is rough. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (South) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in tech here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The school system scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..
