Is Cahokia Heights walkable?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Omaha and Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $37,975, which feels on the lower side for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Worth the trade-offs?

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The public transit scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 8 years. Moved from Chicago for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Chain restaurants dominate. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The outdoor recreation scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Westside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Mexican places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
