Is Cairo getting better or worse?

Curious what people think. I'm single, late 20s, and It's a a small town city with about 1,699 people. The median home value here is around $28,200, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Cairo? Thanks! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I work in government here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is underrated. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 15 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 15 years. Moved from San Diego for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is improving - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Bugs and humidity in summer. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Dallas about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 9 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
