Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 50s, and Homes are going for about $279,400 on average. The median home value here is around $279,400, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'm a chef and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely tough and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Westside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The public transit scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cultural scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 13 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
