First post here. Is this normal for Caledonia? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 7 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Diego about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..
